The Best Time to Visit Tanzania

Straddling the equator at 6° to 12° south, Tanzania enjoys a stretch of cool weather throughout most of the year. Its varying seasons create an exceptional backdrop for an African safari, offering unique experiences that could be tailored to your personal interests and taste. This overview provides a guide to the different seasons, helping you make informed decisions based on your preferences. Keep in mind that weather conditions can fluctuate, but our safari consultants are always available to help configure the perfect adventure that aligns with your liking.

January to March (High Season)

This is the prime period for wildlife viewing, especially in the Southern Serengeti, where the Great Migration’s calving season takes center stage. Although it warm and generally dry, expect occasional showers, especially in March.

April to May (Low Season)

Renowned for our trusted and reliable service, we offer a convenient and elegant safari experience across Tanzania’s Northern Safari Circuit and Zanzibar, making stress-free travel a hallmark of our reputation.

June to September (High Season)

Dry weather prevails, making it the perfect time for safaris across Tanzania. The cooler temperatures are ideal for climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro or exploring the Ngorongoro Highlands. It’s also peak season for the Northern Safari Circuit and across the country, with plenty of wildlife activity and minimal rainfall.

October to December (Shoulder Season)

The short rains begin in late October, but they practically don’t disrupt travel much. The landscapes are greener, and animals are still easy to spot. December is also warm and pleasant, especially along the coast, making it a good time for beach holidays.
